Fairfax Art Walk (FAW) is an evening celebration of the arts in downtown Fairfax. This magical event was started five years ago as part of the Town of Fairfax Community Services department’s initiative to help boost the visibility of the arts in our town.
Artists, makers, musicians, and poets are showcased by our vital local business community. Musicians and poets perform on the street, adding to the festive atmosphere. The FAW Scavenger Hunt also adds to the atmosphere of fun and discovery. Prizes, contributed by the artists and local merchants are awarded by a drawing from all winning entries. This event is family friendly and stamped with an “Only in Fairfax” approval rating. Come celebrate Fairfax’s unique creative spirit.
With town staff support, the Art Walk is run by our Artists in Residence Collaborative which is made up of members, Stephanie Mohan–a photographer and businesswoman in Fairfax, Sharon Virtue–a painter and community arts artist, and Susan Pascal Beran–an established and well known exhibited public art sculptor and artist.
The Artist in Residence Collaborative promotes this event via the website https://fairfaxartwalk.com/ and through Fairfax Recreation’s social media, Fall and Winter brochure guide and the town’s newsletters. The artists and merchants both love this event because it gets people into their stores to connect, boost their commerce sales and celebrate the arts.
“People are really excited that we’re doing this again,” Mohan said. “Fairfax is known for being a creative, quirky and fun town, and this event highlights this through both the merchants and artists! That’s what makes this town so wonderful.”
