Fairfax has a long and unique history with cannabis, supporting safe and responsible access while maintaining local oversight. The Town allows up to two commercial cannabis businesses to operate under strict regulatory guidelines.

• Only two cannabis business permits are allowed at any given time.

• Permits are valid for 24 months and must be renewed prior to expiration.

• The Town previously conducted a permit selection process.
• Businesses were scored based on Town Council adopted criteria such as security plans, public benefits, and sustainability.
• The Town is now reopening the application process for up to two businesses.
