More about the class
These two ‘taster’ session classes are being held to garner interest in ongoing affordable, local afterschool ceramic classes for children 5 – 13 years old. (Older children are of course welcome). Artist Sharon Virtue has over 30 years of teaching ceramics classes to both adults and children and started an outreach project in 2001 called the ‘Mud Bus’. Sharon has lots of great projects for various skill levels. The taster sessions we will hand-build ceramic sculptures with air dry clay which can be taken home and painted with acrylic paints. If we decide to continue working in clay, the work will be fired in an electric kiln with glaze decorations. Working with clay helps develop motor skills, it is calming and stress reducing, and builds confidence, imagination and creativity.
