Fair-Anselmo Climate Action Committees Host Joint Event on State Policy, Waste Reduction, and More

Posted on March 3, 2025

The Fairfax and San Anselmo Climate Action Committee recently hosted a climate event focused on state policy, waste reduction, and art activism. Student advocates engaged in a dynamic discussion with CA State Assemblymember Damon Connolly, who represents Marin and Sonoma Counties and champions strong environmental policies. Topics included electrification costs, protecting vulnerable communities, and California’s leadership in waste reduction and renewable energy.

Attendees then watched One Plastic Beach, a compelling film on West Marin artists Richard and Judith Selby Lang and their transformation of ocean plastics into art.

The event concluded with Renee Goddard, sustainability leader and former Fairfax mayor, sharing insights on waste management and daily recycling habits. She emphasized the role of Marin Sanitary Service, a community-based waste and recycling company dedicated to landfill waste reduction through composting, recycling, and education. To improve your waste-sorting practices, visit Marin Sanitary’s website for resources.
