Fairfax Climate Action Plan Community Forum & Survey

Posted on October 15, 2020

Last week, we let you know that The Community Forums that the Climate Action Committee is holding to help the Town to create its next 10-year Climate Action Plan. We kicked off our meetings on Monday October 12th with a very interesting conversation. We talked about what a Climate Action Plan is, how Fairfax created its first one, how Fairfax beat its original targets, and how we are now trying to figure out how we can achieve even more – because it matters.

Over the next four months, the Climate Action Committee will host additional meetings to go through the different sections of the plan. Our meetings are public, open to all, and occur on the second Monday of every month, from 6:30 – 7:30. We will post notices of them on our CAC website (click here:  http://www.climatefx.org/). The meetings will be held by ZOOM, with no password.

The meeting ID is:  963 0358 4336

Our schedule will be as follows:

November 9, 6:30-7:30 – How do we make all of our transportation clean?

December 14, 6:30 – 7:30, How do we make all of our building energy clean?

January 11, 6:30 – 7:30, How we do make our water and waste streams clean?

February 8, 6:30 – 7:30, How do we use sequestration, and how do we help the community lead?

We hope you will join us! We will post recordings of the sessions on our website.

Together, we can do this.

Fairfax Climate Action Plan Survey

The Town of Fairfax is updating its 2014 Climate Action Plan and Climate Action Committee needs your input to develop effective measures that will substantially reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In March of 2019, the Town Council passed a Climate Emergency Resolution and set a target of zero emissions by 2030, going beyond State reduction targets.
After receiving community feedback, the Fairfax Climate Action Committee will bring a first draft of the 2030 Climate Action Plan to the Council and then post it for further public comment. Hopefully, a final version will come before the Council by the end of this year.
