Available in Fairfax, Marin County has partnered with nonprofit Front Porch to offer a program called Home Match that specifically helps seniors screen for roommates. Homeowners or master tenants that are financially vulnerable and have available rooms in their homes (called “home providers”) are matched with low- to moderate-income people seeking affordable housing local to their school or work (called “home seekers”). Providers gain supplemental income and new social connections, while seekers benefit from affordable rent in a vetted home.
