Permit Amnesty Program

Up until 2032, residents with existing ADUs and JADUs may apply for a permit without any penalty. To receive the permit, existing ADUs and JADUs must come into compliance with the zoning code (built within the correct setback and not built within excess of height limits, for example) and the Town's building code.

The ADU-permit processing fee is currently $500 and subject to adjustment in the Town fee schedule. As a part of the “Incentive Program” to encourage residents to legalize or create accessory dwelling units, application processing fees and building permit fees for ADUS/JADUs will be reduced by 50 percent (to $250) for new and existing units.
