Starting April 15, 2024, all short-term rentals (STRs) in the Town of Fairfax are required to be registered with the Town. This requires an annual registration fee, and the collection and remittance of Hotel User’s Tax (HUT). Operating a STR without registering the unit with the Town violates Town Code and is subject to citations, fines, and/or other administrative fees. The Town of Fairfax enforces its STR regulations to ensure fairness for all short-term rental and lodging operators and to maintain quality of life for its residents. Letters to all STR operators will start going out on May 1, 2024.
