The Town Council adopted an ordinance to require the use of electric (either battery-operated or corded) landscape equipment starting January 1, 2023 for residents, and January 1, 2024 for commercial landscapers. Covered equipment includes leaf blowers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, edgers, pole saws, chainsaws, and mowers. The ordinance will help reduce the Town’s greenhouse gas emissions, and protect the health and safety of residents and equipment operators. The Town is in the process of developing a rebate program to assist residents and landscapers with the cost of acquiring new equipment. Read the ordinance.
