May 29, 2024 Highlights

Grant Agreement with the California Coastal Conservancy for Funds to Aid in the Acquisition of the Wall Property

The Town Council authorized the Mayor to sign all agreements and documents needed to accept the Coastal Conservancy grant, if awarded, and thereby continue the successful group fundraising effort to purchase and preserve the Wall Property.

***The day after the meeting, Thursday June 6, 2024, the California Coastal Conservancy awarded the $500,000 grant to the Town to help acquire the Wall Property for the protection, restoration, and enhancement of natural resources, wildlife habitat, open space, California Native American tribal cultural resources, and compatible public access.

Discuss Scientific Survey Results Regarding a Possible Bond Measure for Road Repairs and Direct Staff as Appropriate

Following a presentation on the survey results and council deliberation on moving forward with a road bond measure and the Council directed staff to bring back a resolution putting forth to voters a bond measure for $18 million.

The proposed resolution to add the road bond measure to the November 5, 2024, election will come back to the Council for consideration at the July 17, 2024, regular Town Council meeting.

Resolution Submitting to the Qualified Voters of the Town of Fairfax on the November 5, 2024, General Municipal Election Ballot an Initiative Measure Amending the Town Code Regarding Just Cause Eviction and Rent Stabilization Standards in the Town of Fairfax

The Town Council adopted the resolution to add the Initiative Measure to the November 5, 2024, ballot. Additionally, the Council voted 3-2 to not print the entire measure in the voter guide.

Proclamation for Peace

The Town Council voted 4-1 to adopt a Proclamation for Peace.
